Advertising Campaign

Vivienne Westwood's Spring 2010 Gold Label collection is advertised in Great Britain and includes very distinct make-up, styling, and a grunge feel. It is definitely unusual and will catch the attention of a hip, trendy consumer. It includes Pamela Anderson, models- Tati Cotliar and Andreas Kronthaler, and Westwood herself. I am immediately attracted to these pictures because of the use of bright colors, bolds lines and visual arrangement, and good use of displaying the product. I like clothing that is sleek and sophisticated but also a little messy. Fashion shouldn’t always be perfect and everyone should take risks to see what works for them and what doesn’t. If you can pull together an outfit, throw it on, and feel fabulous, then that’s all that really matters.

Melissa Plastic Dreams

Vivienne Westwood's Fall 2009 collection came out with line of shoes made from 100% recyclable, hypo-allergenic monomaterial that is form fitted to your foot and provides a comfortable easy fit. The company which manufactures this plastic is called Grendene, is based in Brazil, and recycles 99% of all the excess material which is left after processing. The company became popular a few years back when it manufactured jelly shoes but only recently has it become environmentally concious and taken steps to care for the environment.

Anglomania

Anglomania was a brand that Vivienne Westwood created and could be said to be a "Love Affair with Europe." It included the British flag reinvented into stylish garments and embellished with safety clips and other adornments. Her Anglomania line is very popular today and includes beautiful draped garments, which are fitted to the body and very sexy. The brand is not too overpriced and many items can be found online.

Vivienne Westwood

My project for Fashion Branding is to research a designer or brand and I chose Vivienne Westwood. She is a very infuential designer who started her work in the U.K. and is said to be the creator of punk fashion. Her second marriage was to Malcolm McLaren, who was the manager of the band the Sex Pistols. He opened a store named Let it Rock, out of multiple other names, and Vivienne started selling her flamboyent designs there. The Sex Pistols began to wear Vivienne's designs and the public began to notice and copy the unique style. She incorporated scottish plaid and traditional fabrics and prints into her garments which made it even more avant-garde. "The "punk style" included BDSM fashion, bondage gear, safety pins, razor blades, bicycle or lavatory chains on clothing and spiked dog collars for jewelry, as well as outrageous make-up and hair" (Vivienne Westwood). This style is still seen today and has become very famous and well-known throughout the world.
